My Platform

Strong schools begin with strong leadership. My platform is built on putting students first by supporting academic excellence, safe and inclusive learning environments, effective student supports, responsible planning for growth, and transparent governance. Every decision I make will be guided by evidence, accountability and a commitment to helping every student reach their full potential.

Putting Students First

Every decision made by the School Board shapes the future of students, families and communities across White Rock and Surrey. As a candidate for School Trustee, I bring more than 20 years of governance and senior leadership experience enabling me to make thoughtful, evidence-informed decisions that strengthen public education and prepare students for success.

Every decision I make as a trustee will be guided by three questions:

  • Does it put students first?

  • Is it supported by evidence?

  • Is it a responsible use of public resources?

Those principles shape the priorities below.

Academic Excellence

Every student deserves the opportunity to discover their strengths and achieve their full potential.

Students in White Rock and Surrey continue to achieve strong academic results in literacy and numeracy. Graduation rates remain above the provincial average, English Language Learners have consistently exceeded provincial completion rates, and Indigenous student completion rates continue to improve. We must continue building on that success while ensuring every student has the opportunity to thrive.

My priorities are to:

  • Maintain high expectations in literacy, numeracy, and academic achievement.

  • Recognize multiple pathways to success, including university, skilled trades, apprenticeships, the arts, athletics and entrepreneurship.

  • Strengthen partnerships with post-secondary institutions, employers and community organizations.

  • Support evidence-informed educational initiatives that improve student learning.

  • Continue strengthening Indigenous education and opportunities for Indigenous learners.

SAFE, HEALTHY & INCLUSIVE SCHOOLS.png

Safe and Inclusive Schools

Schools should foster safe, welcoming, inclusive environments where every student has the opportunity to succeed. That means supporting positive school cultures, addressing bullying, promoting student well-being and ensuring schools have appropriate safety measures in place.

My priorities are to:

  • Support safe, respectful and inclusive learning environments.

  • Promote student well-being and mental health.

  • Encourage strong relationships between students, families, educators and schools.

  • Support initiatives that address bullying, violence and substance use through education, prevention and early intervention.

  • Advocate for learning environments where every student feels they belong.

SUPPORT SERVICES.png

Student Supports

Students have diverse needs, and many require additional supports to reach their full potential.

As student needs become increasingly complex, we must ensure available resources are directed where they have the greatest impact while continuing to advocate for the funding our students deserve.

My priorities are to:

  • Support students with diverse learning needs.

  • Advocate for timely access to mental health and wellness supports.

  • Support early intervention wherever possible.

  • Encourage strong partnerships between schools, families and community organizations.

  • Advocate for adequate provincial funding for student support services.

  • Continue advancing reconciliation, equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.

  • Ensure the responsible expansion of school-based childcare and nutrition programs.

Planning for Growth

White Rock and Surrey continue to grow rapidly, and our schools must keep pace, not only with increasing enrollment but with a rapidly changing world. Planning for the future means advocating for new schools, additions, seismic upgrades and modern learning environments, while making responsible decisions about the use of public resources. It also means embracing emerging technologies, while ensuring strong policies and governance are in place for their safe, responsible, and effective use.

My priorities are to:

  • Advocate for timely investment in new schools, additions and school expansions.

  • Support long-term capital planning that reflects projected enrolment growth.

  • Promote modern, safe and accessible learning environments.

  • Ensure public resources are managed responsibly and transparently.

  • Advocate for infrastructure that supports students today and into the future.

Strong Leadership and Governance

Strong governance is essential to a successful school district. Trustees must provide strategic leadership, oversee the responsible use of public resources and make decisions that are transparent, collaborative and always focused on students.

My priorities are to:

  • Make evidence-informed decisions that put students first.

  • Demonstrate integrity, accountability and transparency.

  • Support responsible financial stewardship.

  • Listen respectfully to students, families, staff and the broader community.

  • Build collaborative relationships that strengthen public education.

Every decision made by the School Board impacts a child’s future. I will bring integrity, sound judgment, strong governance and fiscal responsibility to every decision I make, always guided by one simple principle:

Putting Students First.

Building stronger schools is a community effort, and I’d be grateful for your support.

Together, we can help ensure every decision made at the board table reflects the best interests of the students  of White Rock and Surrey.
